As you all know, we love to put on for the city so we created our Meet The Producer Series to introduce fans to the people making things happen in the HSV hip hop scene. First up is Lance "Digital Fingerzz" Matthews. He's been making noise here in the city for a minute and most recently, you may have heard his work on the radio via Carlos Hawkins single "Dont Look Right" in regular rotation on WEUP. How did you get started producing and for how long have you been producing?
I got started by d.j.ing in high school, band act in the 90's but it was around 99/2000 when i really got active with the SHO situation.
First piece of equipment/software you started on?
The first was turntables & MPC 2000.
What are your top 5 beats of all time (that you did NOT produce)?
Outkast "Liberation", Outkast "SpottieOttieDopalicious"
Dr Dre "G Thang", Goodie Mob "Black Ice", UGK "Diamonds & Wood".
What's you favorite song that you have ever produced?

Who would you like to work with in the Huntsville or 256 area that you haven't worked with already?SLASH!! BS YOU NOT.
Who would you like to work with on a major label? Of Course Dre 3Stacks!!!
What producers did you/do you look up to (your influences)? Organized Noize is my biggest influence but Timbaland, Dre Dre and Justice League also.
Describe your beat making process? (example: melody first, chop a sample, program drums, lay a bassline, etc.) Hard to say cause its kinda sporadic, i can say drums are 5th ingredient usually, but I might start with bass line, melody, sometimes I start out with a clap...it just depends on the vibe I'm catching.
What has been your best moment as a producer so far? (example: heard your song on radio, worked with your fav artist, etc) It was when a complete stranger came to me the first time and was like "i heard that song you and such n such did.."and they like it!! thats the best to me...when people like your work, cause thats why we do it.
Where would you like to be in your career in the next 5 years? 10 years? In 5 I want my career to be at a place were im financially safe!!! and in 10?? retired and chillin smoking whatever new kush in the streets then!!
